The Border Starts Here
2006

The Border Starts Here is video dance about texture.  The texture of a physical border that divides two countries and the texture of collaboration between two women from different cultures. The grainy edge of this collaboration was explored through dance and the camera, adding another layer of form and material.  The video does not take a side on issues of immigration or illegal border crossings.  Instead, it presents the idea that the border blocks more than people, it blocks the energy of movement and documents an unexpected event that occurred in the collaborative process.
