Impressionism Study: Dance and Digital Effects
2006

This experimental video short combines dance and images of the underwater La Jolla ecological preserve with Video Gogh digital effects, exploring the rhythm of nature and the body in the tidal flow. The dance film was inspired by the painting "Impression: Sunrise" by Claude Monet. The dancers were filmed in the dance studio and then blended with images of kelp and garibaldi fish. Artist Gregory Gallardo painted the dancers in the rehearsal process. Video footage of his brushstrokes were incorporated into the final edit.
